I bought a flash at discount it has a zoom error showing. I see the flash tube assembly move in and out when the flash is powered on so I know the motor is ok. I watched another video repairing the exact problems, but the video was in foreign language and documentation was not good. Watching your video has given me the idea that maybe it might be worth while opening the flash head to see if I might see something that is causing the problem. On the other hand the flash works so maybe I should leave things alone. The problem might be electrical vs mechanical. Do you have any suggestions?

– I have to say that the work you put in repairing it was pretty big and absolutely not for everyone. 250 + check fee is also to much.

I have a not used sb5000 that doesn’t tariff the flash . Only 1 year support on flash, and that time is passed. I don’t know what to do with the flash. For 130 I would have repair it.

Is there any labelling on white component? And did you have batteries in flash when you connected bulb?

It is right under the white hood. So I accidentally connected both ends of the bulb and this component smoked. What is it and what does it do? And do I need to replace it? My bulb is broken. Will replacing the bulb and leaving this component as it is cause any problems?
